Planning and organizing a family reunion is an engaging and fulfilling project in and of itself. If you’re planning a big reunion event you do well to put together a reunion committee. Ask for other family members to help with planning activities and choosing the time and place (this should be done first). 


Planning Family Reunion Activities
Activities can be as simple as an at home family reunion, a reunion in the park or a luxury cruise. Reunions that include travel and touring can be exciting and enriching. Locations to visit may include a the family homestead, school house and places of entertainment. 

Activities can include historic re-enactments that stimulate family morale, challenge the intellect and fuel the imagination while enabling the viewer to see touch and hear the past. Older family members may narrate stories about the deceased. This can be a good time to reminisce about departed family members and recount humorous stories about their personalities.

Assign each member of your newly formed reunion committee a specific task, such as T-shirts and memorabilia, genealogy presentations including memorials and historic tours/entertainment, dining events, Reunion Book, entertainment, videography, photography, etc. 

Make sure those delegated certain duties know exactly what is exp ected and who to report to with questions. Written instructions are best when assigning tasks.  Time line reminders are a must have for timely execution of actions items and following up with what others are doing.

The type of entertainment you feature at your family reunion event should largely depend on who is in attendance and what the majority would enjoy. First make a list of the folks likely to attend.
